DAY 9: PARTY!! (FREESTYLE)

Hi friends and family! This is a recap from today’s LDDs, Alex and Olivia. Since we did an outstanding job finishing our community action project (CAP) in just 2 days, today was more of a fun, chill day.

We started the day by waking up at 8 am, a one-hour difference from our usual wake-up time. We had a delicious breakfast at 9 am and then headed into multiple hours of free time! Many of the glimpsers were engaging in their enjoyable activities, such as playing cards, chasing each other around, and simply talking to one another. It was the perfect time to get to know each other more, as the finale has already fallen upon us. Lunch was a bit late, but the more time led to more conversations and more memories.

In the afternoon, we took a tour of a coffee farm, and we were introduced to Miguel and Willy, two of the workers at the farm. They showed us the process of how they plant the coffee plants. They also introduced special coffee plants named Vivero, Barrio Blanco, and the name of the farm was called Cluster de Café de Jarabacoa. We all helped out at the farm by pulling out weeds from the lines of coffee plants that were already planted. At the very end of the tour, they gave us fresh coffee beans from Don Miro Cafe Artesenal which had just been made that day in Jarabacoa!

Later on at dinner, we had amazing food made by Jaqueline. She made burgers for all of us, and they were very delicious. They had a choice of beef or chicken for the patty. We couldn’t forget the fries and sodas. I can say for everyone that we all loved her cooking these last few days. Unfortunately, we won’t see her tomorrow, but we’re hoping we’ll see her Monday morning…maybe, for a big thank you and appreciation. Thank you! Jaqueline!! From all the global glimpers.

After our nightly meeting, filled with lots of big love and shout-outs. It was time for our nightly wind-down. But, of course, we couldn’t end the final full night on just any average note. Naturally, we NEEDED ice cream from Helados Bon and karaoke! The music may have been laggy due to the wifi, but trust, our voices were nothing BUT loud and clear.

All in all, today was an amazing way to celebrate all of our hard work. But, as we come to the end of our trip, there’s still a lingering sadness behind all the fun and laughter. Nevertheless, we’re gonna make the best of every moment because we are amazing, perfect, and awesome, and amazing and cool, and also, amazing!!

From all of us glimpsers, we miss you all so much and can’t wait to see you soon. One more day!!

Shout out to Toni Roman, Isreal Rivera, and Mama Emily, I miss you all, and I’ll be home in 2 days xoxo Alex

Hey Skyyyyy!!!
Are you a coffee drinker yet? lol! I know dad’s secretly hoping there’ll be a stash of beans in your bag for him. Just don’t get held up at customs on your way back!!!
I was sad reading day nines’ post because that means your adventures are almost over there but on the bright side you’ll be coming home. And don’t worry- we can always find a project or two for you to do around the house. Ok ok. We’ll let you sleep in until at least 8:30am! Haha!
But seriously, as you start wrapping up there know that as much joy as this trip has given you, it has given us twice as much. You’ve made lasting memories not only with your cohorts but with the members of the community. We’re so proud of you.
Can’t wait to see you soon!
Love the Sullivan’s. Mom dad Lexi and all the beasts!!
