Day 10 – Final Reflection

Hello from Gianna and Kelly! This morning we had ANOTHER 6am wake up. We ate eggs, CHICKEN sausage, CHICKEN nuggets, fried tortillas, and dragon fruit. Then we hopped right on the bus and went to Refugio Pedasi beach to meet Margaret. We first looked and learned more about the dunes, and saw a sea snake on the way. On the way back to the bus, we picked up two full bags of trash, then sorted the trash into categories. It helped us get a better look at what types of trash typically wash up on the beach. While we were cleaning up from the trash inventory, it started to pour rain! After that, we went to a gift shop in Pedasi and got some cute souvenirs.
We were still early for our lunch time, so we stopped at a gas station for some snacks and then went to the Pedasi Museum and did a bottle flip competition before leaving. Then we went to the same place for lunch and had either pork ribs or chicken and fries. After that, we drove to the Playita Resort to swim and hang out at the beach for a few hours. While we were over there, we saw a macaw, spider monkeys, deer, lots of hermit crabs, and dogs! Some people swam, and some people played cards, but all around everyone had a great time. And by the time we got there, the weather cleared up and it was hot and sunny.
Then we took out usual long trip back to the hotel, and on the way we stopped back at the gas station. Then we got ready for dinner, which was burgers and fries, not chicken!!!!!! Then we had our nightly meeting, where we talked about bio-cultural diversity, and why its important. It was for some reason EXTRA long tonight. Now we’re just hanging out before our 10:30 lights out. But everyone’s very tired so probably not going to be that late. And yeah, that was our day! Goodbye from Kelly and Gianna!

Congratulations on the not-chicken? How fitting that your meat diversity came on biodiversity day.
Between the beaches and the rain, you all have spent a lot of your time there covered in water. Was this so you can better know how a sea turtle feels?

GIANNAAAAA!!!!!!!!! Sounds like you all had another long, but exciting day!!! Is the water warm there on the beach???? Sometimes made me wonder with the weather in pictures if it was cold at times or just dreary! One more day in Panama and the. You will be home! I can’t wait to see you (even though I didn’t get your call!!!😭😭😭😭) and I know some OTHERS will be excited to have you back home as well! Missing you like crazy! I have checked your room out of habit several times and then remember I do not have you here to tell to clean! Colby has asked for the 4th time last night when you will be back🤪 love you tons! Thank you for an interesting recap Gianna and Kelly. I could tell that it was another long day, full of a variety of activities. Learning something new, having some fun playing games and swimming, …….and lots of food stops! 😉
I laughed out loud when you described dinner as “not chicken” 😁 and as always it makes me smile to see the pictures full of your smiles.
I look forward to reading these daily recaps and can’t wait to hear more about your experience when you are back home Gianna. It feels like much more than 9 days so far. I’m proud of all of you Glimpsers for taking advantage of this opportunity to step outside of your comfort zones and giving your whole selves.

Talk about jam-packed day!!! What a beautiful thing though, to be able to clean up the space around you, revel in the beauty nature has to offer, make something long lasting. Chicken nuggets for breakfast also sounds like a phenomenal idea and one I may have to steal soon! I hope you all got some quality rest and I know your families are excited to see you tomorrow!
