Day 8: CAP finale

Good morning, everybody! We are your leaders of the day, Myles, Kaitlyn, and Jasmyn. Today we woke up extra early in order to celebrate Cynthia’s 17th birthday! We woke up at 6:20 to gather everyone and go to her door to give her a birthday sash. Soon after we celebrated, we went down for a delicious breakfast of veggie omelets, toast, and pineapple juice. We then had our daily health check-in and headed off to finish up our work at the school!

Once we arrived at the school, we split into 3 groups: one to fix up the paintwork, another to start preparing the gravel drainage system, and the third to put up the shade screen. Quickly after the paint was done, they began to rinse off the concrete to place the picnic tables.

We joined the students during their music class, and they showed us a traditional piece by a very talented student who attended the school. They then decided to come together to sing Cynthia happy birthday. which was a great present from the students. We then asked that class to place their handprints with the leftover paint we had to create a very special piece. (got attacked by grasshopper in photo above)

(grasshopper in question)

We then wrapped up our final cap day and finally finished up and took lots of pictures, and the students wrote us all thank-you letters, which was so sweet of them. Camillia also went and bought them lots of toys and soccer balls for them to play with. They were so appreciative and excited!

After getting back to the hotel we wrote letters of appriciation to some of our donors to show how much they impacted us through donations for this trip!

At 4: 30 we went to a dance class! We had a very enthusiastic dance teacher who taught us salsa, line dancing, and borracha, etc. It was a lot of fun to see some traditional Panamanian dances alongside our not-so-great dance skills. This was a great class after all of the hard work we have done over the last 3 days. It got everyone excited and ready to head out for dinner.

For dinner, we walked to a restaurant called El Aztec, and we had the option the day before of tacos and nachos. everyone had a great time and it was a great bonding experience for everyone to recap on our CAP project and amazing day!

we are all so tired from our hard work, but we are all so excited to have made a lasting impact on the school. It meant so much to us to have done that for the kids. We’re so excited to see how much it helps them with their studies! That’s it for our blog. Thank you for keeping up with our trip!

Big love from Jasmyn, Kaitlyn, and Myles

Hi to my beautiful sister. I miss you so much, only 3 more nights of sleep left !! (Probably two once this gets to you) You are so generous and warm hearted for buying the goodies for the kids, every kid deserves toys! I actually shed a tear over the phone when you were talking. BTW the grasshopper picture is hilarious me Camellia and Jaymie were laughing at it (actually they were like awww our baby) but I was laughing okay fine I said aww too. I just realized I said Camellia and Jaymie I meant Esme and Jaymie who am I even talking to. Okay I’m yapping but like I hate not having you down the hall I’m starting to actually lose my mind!! Clearly. But I’m so happy you’re having fun. You are the baby of the family and I’m about to start crying again so I will click post comment now. There are no updates here unfortunately except Lucy just hunted down a fly and ate it in my face. OK LOVE U SIS

What an incredible accomplishment! I can only imagine how exhausted you all must be after pouring your hearts into your CAP project, but what a beautiful feeling to know that your hard work will leave a lasting impact on the school and the students who will benefit from it for years to come. Seeing how appreciative and excited the kids were must have made every bit of effort worthwhile.

I absolutely love the idea of adding their handprints with the leftover paint. Clever idea šŸ’” ✨ 🌟

šŸ’ Camilla, your generosity in buying the children toys and soccer balls was such a thoughtful gift. Those moments of joy and play will create memories long after you return home.

And happy birthday, Cynthia! šŸŽWhat an unforgettable way to celebrate. Having the children sing to you while spending your birthday serving a community so far from family and friends I’m sure is something you’ll always remember. šŸ’–

I am so proud of each and every one of you. Yes you! You have shown leadership, compassion, resilience, creativity, and heart throughout this journey. I genuinely love reading your daily posts—they remind me that there are so many wonderful, kind, talented, and loving young people in this world. As seniors preparing for college and adulthood, I have no doubt that each of you will continue to be change makers. Keep leading with purpose, and never underestimate the difference you can make.
