Today we started the day bright and early at 7:30, and enjoyed a delicious breakfast of eggs, Gallo Pinto, sweet platanos, and cinnamon buns. For our mental warmup, we led a group stretch to get our bodies ready for the final day of hard work. We departed to our community action project site at 8:45, and got straight to work as soon as we arrived. We continued to dig new trenches for the new water pipe, and we were able to make great progress considering the amount of time we had. We left for lunch at 11:45, and were served fried rice, platanos, and a side salad. After our lunch break, we returned to the CAP site at 1:15. We got right back to work and placed the rest of the water pipe in our newly dug trench, and covered it up. We finished off our project by digging a new trench, following the water pipe, for the next delegations to continue the CAP. We finished up our work at 3:45, and headed back to our base house for some down time. We were all very tired after the long day of shoveling dirt, so most of us went back to our rooms to rest. Some of us also had some fun playing games in the pool. Starting at 5, we began taking turns calling home, each call being around 10 minutes long. It was really heartwarming hearing our families voices, and a little bittersweet as well. At 6:30, we chowed down on some chickpea soup with a side of rice and salad. Lastly, we finished off our day with our nightly meeting, as well as our CAP debrief where we reflected on our CAP accomplishments as a group. We got to pass the torch to the next Liders Del Dia, Alysa, Lauren, and Lucia.
Best,
Selena, Emi, and Adonis
