Hello this is Kelvin and Cristian.
We met at O’hare International airport on Day 1, starting off as strangers, but then instantly clicked. Bonding over our photography skills, once we arrived in Constanza, we chose to be Leaders of the Day (LDD) for CAP Day 2.
We began our morning off by waking each Glimsper up with musica, energy, and dancing. But theres a twist…we were dressed in a Dominican attire of matching grey dress shirts and hats. Knocking on everyone’s room playing “4EVER” by Clairo while creating memories through the lens of a Canon camera.

Today was important not only because were we painting Doña Maria’s house, but because we hosted the Global Glimpse Leadership Board and corporate supporters for breakfast. The Board members and supporters had the opportunity to experience our meal routines, see where we were staying, and get to know us as students.
We then proceeded to go to our CAP site to paint Doña Maria’s house, painting the inside white, and the outside green. As leaders we directed the groups to different work stations to begin their project. While keeping track of time, we initiated rotations where we had one group painting the outside of the house, a group painting the inside, and a group picking up trash. We made sure everyone was following the 15 minute rotations, while also making sure everyone stayed hydrated. We worked well together as LDD’s because we were able to balance each others’ strengths and weaknesses. The friendship we established made it easier to communicate and work together.
Later in the evening, we once again met up with the Global Glimpse Leadership Board and supporters at a local cafe where we had the opportunity to ask questions about their careers, educational experiences, and professional journeys while eating churros, strawberries, and donuts. They gave us meaningful advice on the importance of making mistakes on the road to success and that we should stay open minded, curious, and not limit ourselves. During this time, we were interviewed by a well-known videographer and she asked us questions about our biggest take-aways on the trip. The interview impacted us both emotionally because it was a reflection of all that we have experienced.
Tommorow will be our last CAP where we will be adding cement to the floor as we finalize Doña Maira’s house.
Feliz noche. Sincerely,
Kelvin and Cristian
