Day 7: Waterfall Hike & Environmental Justice!!

Dear friends and families,

The leaders of today were Nataly & Saira, we began the day with a later start with breakfast starting at 8am we then did our mental warm up which was playing evolution. The game was basically everyone starting as eggs, then a bird, a dinosaur, a human and finally a superhero it was funny watching people stay being eggs. At 9:30am we departed to Las Trillizas Waterfall, it was an 800m hike and the waterfall was the prettiest thing ever, the water was cold, but they were so hot from the hike it didn’t matter!

We headed back to eat at the diner right there by the waterfall! The lunch consisted of 4 meals we picked from with a side of strawberry and banana juice, after lunch we headed back to the base house to hear from our guest speaker, Andres “fofo” Zuniga an environmental scientist, he spoke about the impact of tourism in Costa Rica and how people should consider balancing out social, economic and ecological principles. It was then 4 pm when the presentation was over and we had free time for about two hours so people could go shower and stuff because some of us were still wet.

We came back at 6pm to have dinner which was some super good nachos and iced tea, after dinner we began the nightly meeting where we would go through the recap of the day along with some feedback from the GGL’s and then wait for our next leaders of the day to prep for tomorrow!
