DAY 7 – environmental justice & fun day

Hi families! Dahlia Orlove and I led the glimpsers through today’s activities. We started the day by knocking on doors and making sure everyone was awake and ready before heading to our meal area to chat with our chef Diego about breakfast. We were served rice and beans, fruit, eggs, and bread, with tamarin for our drink as well as our usual coffee. Shortly after, we loaded on to the bus and headed to our first activity of the day, hiking and swimming at the waterfall. We hiked about 20 minutes both ways and had a great time swimming, taking pictures, and admiring the beautiful landscape. We later had lunch at a nearby restaurant, where we had options consisting of rice, beans, protein, vegetables, and watermelon and pineapple juice. After eating, we got back on the bus to head to our home base and relaxed during our free time. To Mom, Dad, Bethel, and Zema, I miss you all so much and can’t wait to tell you all about my transformative time here. – Loza Yared

After taking some time to wash off we met our guest speaker, Andres (Fofo). We spent the next 2 hours learning about environmental justice and ecotourism. At the end, we had a fun debate using the knowledge we gained. During the next hour and a half of free time we enjoyed some ice-cream and played card games by the pool. Dinner tonight was pork-chops, potatoes, salad, and juice. The pork was a hit! After passing our responsibilities to the next leaders, the group decided we would do Just Dance and karaoke for activity night, while others cooled off in the pool. Because today was fun day, we had a later bedtime of 10:00, which we definitely took advantage of. Today was another great day, we look forward to the next one! Miss you Mom and Dad + give Piki a hug for me!! -Dahlia Orlove
