Heyo everyone, Diigant and Valentin on the case!
Welcome to the blog of Day 7: Community Action Project Execution Day 2.

As usual, the wake up call was at 6:50 A.M., and as usual it was a pain trying to get everyone up. Luckily, we were able to get everyone up on time with some effort (Jack please be better). We started the day off with fried eggs and fried cassavas with strawberry juice. While breakfast was going on, people were labelling their laundry bags to make sure everyone got their clothes back when they were cleaned by the laundry service. After, we had taken care of some of the housekeeping, we were on the bus heading away to get back to our CAP project!

Once we were at the site, we got our energy going with a quick game of rock paper scissors. But then it was straight to work! Valentin and I had made groups the previous night, delegating each group to a specific task in which it really had a big positive impact. There was so much to get done! We had to circle out the garden beds, place and plant the eco-bottles, then paint them. But we also had a second project to get done: the basketball court! We were able to finish up the lines on the backboard. Though the biggest problem was that we didn’t have brushes to paint the eco bottles or the backboard! So Ms. Kenia took Diigant to a local store to get brushes for the team, but by the time they got back with the brushes, Mr. Carlos had already found the school’s brushes. Luckily, the new brushes also proved to be useful as there were many things to be painted. We pushed through the work day to lunch and were treated to ground beef and rice.

With this being our last full work day, everyone quietly agreed to end lunch early and were back to work quickly. Turns out, we first had to shovel gravel into each garden bed before pouring soil. A group was working on breaking up the gravel and shoveling it into the garden beds, while another was busy painting away the eco-bottles and making the edges look pretty. We finished painting all the eco-bottles and were ready to head back to our hotel. On our ride back we stopped at a local indoor market. Somehow people were lost… even though they were on the bus? Joseph and Diigant were running the market trying to find people who were not even lost, chilling on the bus. We made it back to the hotel in one piece and then had some free time before heading to dinner where we enjoyed a classic fried chicken and fries with strawberry juice. Today was certainly a long day, but it was definitely a lot smoother than the previous day. The set up on first day of the CAP project was rough, but today was easier to work through because we knew what to do and how to work together. Today was an exciting day with a lot of progress and we are ready to finish strong tomorrow!

Valentin: My experience as an LDD was very… interesting. Being an LDD wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. I believe that our plan we had come up with the previous night really helped! We created four different groups and designated them for specific working. Overall, CAP day 2 was great! I’m looking forward to the next few days, especially seeing my loved ones.

Wassup everyone! Diigant here. Being LDD was definitely a very different experience from being a regular Glimpser. I was charged with responsibilities, but it felt good to have those responsibilities. The previous day was super tiring and I took some of that fatigue to the bus ride while going to Santa Ana Escuela, but when I got to the school I felt this energy take over me and I was ready to take on the day. I carried on that energy throughout the day, doing my best to fulfill my requirements as LDD.

We wish the best of luck to the next LDDs who will be finishing up the project: Monse, Marysol, & Jack.
