Day 7 – Biocultural Diversity

Hello, my name is Diego Oropeza and today, our theme was Biocultural Diversity and we glimpsers were able to educate ourselves on the topic and even do some work that contributed to the well being of Panama’s extremely important Biocultural Diversity. To start the day off, we had a very delicious breakfast in order to be prepared for the long day we had ahead of ourselves 😋! After that, we traveled over to Pedasí and met up with some extremely passionate speakers regarding Biocultural Diversity whose names were Robert and Isabel. Once we met up with them, we got an extremely educational presentation on Panama’s Biocultural Diversity, specifically, how sea turtles play a crucial role and are an extremely important part of Panama and why it’s important to be educated on them and the role that they play in Panama. Following the presentation, we headed over to a beach called “Playa del Toro” where we conducted some beach cleaning in order to provide a more cleaner habitat for the turtles that reside in that beach when it comes to nesting their eggs during nesting season. After cleaning the beach, we traveled back to Las Tablas and had some lunch. Later in the day, we split up into 3 groups and ventured off into town in order to either play soccer, buy souvenirs, or prepare materials needed for the next day. After that, we had dinner and had some meetings and ended off the night with some bonding time. Overall, I would say that being Líder Del Día was extremely fun and I’m especially proud of all of my fellow glimpses because we did some extremely important work today and were able to accomplish a lot in the time that we had allocated in order to have a positive impact on Panama’s Biocultural Diversity! To all of the families, you are missed by your glimpser and we look forward to seeing you guys very soon 😊! Goodnight😴.

Hello, my name is Julian Mujica. Today as the other LDD I was really proud on how our glimpsers were able to adjust to us being late to most things like dinner or our mental warm ups. I was on one of the people in the groups who went to buy souvenirs. Since it was Sunday A LOT of the places were closed and so we only went to 3 stores and bought treats. At the meeting with Robert and Isabel in the morning, I was shocked to see everyone engaged and genuinely taking part and asking questions. I also heard that Robert said that we were one of the best glimpsers he had worked with, and I was really proud to hear all my friends were really good and better then his other people he’s worked with. I was proud of the progress people were able to make on the beach, we had almost 4 large garbage bags full of garbage and 3 large garbage pieces like buckets and rope. On the bus ride we talked a lot about our PC Paco. We learned a lot of interesting things about him, like his favorite food, his time in his home land of Ecuador and his time leading his GG team in hid home land. I hope to all the families who miss their kids know we are all doing fine and we love and miss you all. HAPPY FATHERS DAY DAD, SORRY I COULDN’T BE THERE THIS YEAR ❤️ ❤️.
