Hello from Rawling, Kelvin, and Fiona, today was one of the most relaxed days that the group had before a vigorous couple days ahead of us. After an amazing long night having late night chats at the pool and loud karaoke bar (the hotel restaurant it wasn’t a bar). We woke up bright and early and got right on the bus (it was a 4 hour drive btw.) heading straight back to “da” villa. Interrupting our drive was a pit stop to get some of the best local Dominican tostones, cake, and snacks. Once we made it back, we ate a delicious lunch made by the GOAT, (Greatest of all time) herself Ms. Margarita!! After lunch we headed out to meet the founder of the non-profit organization we will be working with for our community action project (CAP). We went to his restaurant in downtown Constanza, where we had a very meaningful introduction to our upcoming project.
Getting picked up by our fantastic and resilient driver, we went to a “Chino”(Dominican Walmart), where everyone got the necessities and goofy things they could get from the Dominican Republic. Many people bought snacks, hoola-hoops, and goofy toys that people all cherished with one another. Furthermore, we got back to the villa, and Margarita once again chefed up an amazing taco night. After everyone ate their chicken and beef tacos, we met at the nightly meeting, where we had a meeting with a disco ball, along with glow sticks that Joaquin offered.
We had a shorter day, and most of our day was on the bus, so sorry for the smaller blog. 🙁
(P.s. all comments are read out loud to all the students every night during nightly meetings)
