Hiii parents and supporters! Wake up call was at 6 A.M. for all Glimpers (except for our LDD’s Tajahnae & Deane who woke up at every time but the right time 5:30 A.M.). Today’s theme was all about Biocultural Diversity; Glimpsers got the opportunity to visit Tortugas Pedasi where we met our lovely speakers, Roberto and Isabelle, who taught us all about the Pedasi wildlife and their conservation efforts with turtles!
During said speech at Tortugas Pedasi, our host, the amazing Roberto, went into depth about the different types of turtles they have researched. Roberto went into detail about the different ways they help the eco community and how they differ from each other; Green turtles are omnivores in youth but turn vegetarian during their adulthood (hence the green in their name!), Hawksbill turtles are the only turtles with a unique shell that is equivalent to fish scales, and the Olive Ridley is one of the most endangered species (one that Tortugas Pedasi studies personally).

After our lovely information session, Glimpsers had the opportunity to visit the downstairs museum which houses beautiful artifacts pertaining to Pedasi’s history, culture, and their efforts of conservation of their local wildlife.

Picture of Glimpsers before leaving the museum, includes Roberto.
After exploring the museum and learning about Pedasi itself, Glimpsers took a look around Pedasi’s town center and visited a local souvenir shop filled with gorgeous handmade trinkets like bracelets, necklaces, clothes, dreamcatchers, and more!

As a treat to the rest of our Glimpsers, most of today was a free day! A few Glimpsers stayed at the hotel to play in the pool while the other group went to town, shopping for snacks and small souvenirs.
During our daily seminar we had an absolute ball walking around the living room during our bonding activity. We were given blind folds and an animal. After that, we were expected to find our respected partner however we could within 5 minutes! So unexpected but it was an blast, 10 out of 10 would recommend!

For the rest of the night we had our routine meetings and had the opportunity to introduce our next LDDs for tomorrow’s Fun Day, Israel and Juan!

These guys did a whole musical number including dancing and singing; it was amazing!

They even started a whole dancing group lol the club has nothing on us we had our own family get together.

We discussed turtles, but what are your favorite sea animals? If you know about any turtles or marine animals of your choice, make sure to tell us in the comments below!
Once again, thank you to all the parents and supporters for staying tune on the blog. Our next LDDs will be updating you as days go on. Parents, we miss you! <3

TURTLES ARE MY FAVORITE!!! I love turtles! Israel has a Russian tortoise (so land not aquatic) that I gifted him for his 3rd birthday… so he’s had it for over 14 years! I have a collection of turtles/tortoises. Hopefully Israel brings me back a little souvenir! 😉 Love you!

What a great day! You all learned so much about the turtles; I hope you weren’t shell-shocked.
You really did earn your free time, and those games you played looked like a blast.
We can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!

Hi Glimpsers!
What a neat experience learning about different types of turtles. I love that you all have the opportunity to learn things out of your normal day to day. My favorite ocean animal is the Bottle Nosed Dolphin. Growing up my room was decorated with everything dolphin! I was lucky enough on my wedding day to finally have the opportunity to swim with them in Mexico. A memory I will never forget. I’m so happy that all for you are getting to make these menories this summer. Miss you Luka xxx
