Day 6: cap execution 2

Hi guys!! Its Livia, Marco, and Neelah and we were the LDDs of the day and were very excited to tell you what we did today. There were 3 groups working on our CAP project each group acomplished diffrent goals. Group 1 succesfully painted all the soccer goal frames and worked on sanding and painting fences on the interrior of the locker room. Group 2 sanded old rust and painted the interior frame of one of the main rooms connected to the locker room, as well as taking down spider webs and wiping down dirty surfaces all around the room. Group 3 worked on sanding, wiping and painting the support beams underneath the building and the bridge.

Unfortunately yesterday we were not able to complete nearly as much as we hopped because of weather so everyone was very motivated to finish as much as they could to make up for the lost day. In all, this day was very successful because we got a lot done in the end and we left very little to complete in the next CAP day. At the end of the day, we could see a significant difference in the overall locker room appearance; which was very rewarding for all of the hard work we put in. Not only were we happy due to the progress we made, but also we were motivated by the blue sunny skies that came through for a few hours in the day. Today was a day where we truly got to see our whole group work together, not only as a team, but as friends working and having fun completing a shared goal.

On our way back we were rewarded for a hard days work with a short stop at a local convienece store where everyone bought cookies, ice cream, or other fun Costa Rican snacks to take back to the hotel base house. Morale was high as we came back to close with letters of appreciation for all the people that believe and support Global Glimpse.

Livia: Today was a very exciting day especially because our GGL leaders did not join us (they were given a well deserved day off!) so us LDD’s had to step up our game working on the CAP project. I feel like during this trip we have really built a community were we feel comfortable to share our personal thoughts and work together really well. Im really excited to continue my time here and get to know everyone here a little bit more. Much love!

Neelah: Today was so much fun, because it as extremely rewarding to see all of our hard work pay off in the end. It was also so nice to see all my group work so hard and seem to enjoy cleaning and renovating the locker room. I feel like every day our group is getting closer, and working together.

Marco: Despite the rainy weather today and our CAP day, everyone still came together and us LDDS did the best we could to be flexible and made conversations to figure out what could have been done if we by chance didn’t go back out or out at all. Luckily for us, we were able to go out twice today and everyone put in their best effort, strength, and time to clean the place we worked at. Everyone communicated, worked, and did amazing as we saw the incredible progress at the end. My group was removing the rust off of the bottom of the building we were working at, with sandpaper, a rag, and paint with paintbrushes, we got to repaint a great amount of what was once all covered in rust. At the end, everyone had cleaned out webs, spiders, wasps, and other dirty areas of the place. In the mix of rain to sudden hot temperature from the sun coming out for a few moments, everyone brought out the best they could and under the time stretch we had. A lot had gotten done, everyone looked after each other, helping and reminding to take breaks. We did what we could, and did it in full efforts to make up for what we lost the previous CAP day.
