Day 2 of gut-wrenching work, and everyone was suuuuuper hyped up to continue digging the trench! The weather started out extremely sunny, as we hiked back up the steep hill for 30 minutes. Thanks to our AMAZING chefs, we got to eat these crazy good sandwiches again. Getting back to digging, we noticed the weather was becoming foggy, and not long after, the rain came pouring down ever so suddenly. Everyone was soaking wet, but we perservered. We had finally finished digging and it was time to lay the pipe down. Once we had finished that, it was time to cover it all back with dirt. Shoutout to our GOAT Esteban for helping us with the finishing touches and to our newly adopted dog, Memi, who followed us to the worksite and all the way back to our base house, she is now a part of our pack!

After arriving back to the base house (with Memi of course) everyone rushed to take a shower as we were covered in mud from head to toe. Once clean, many of us went straight to our beds while others played their favorite card games. At 5:30 PM we started our letters of appreciation to the people who made this trip possible, we’re extremeley thankful for the support we’ve recieved from donors, staff and our GGL’s. For dinner we had spaghetti with alfredo chicken, and fruit punch for our beverage of the night. Before our nightly meeting we watched a video called the “Goose and the Golden Eggs“, which detailed the affects of toursim on Costa Rica, and how mega corporations take advantage and exploit the Natural Resources of Costa Rica, leaving the ecosystem and the native people devastated.
To end off our day, we played Just Dance in the dining area, much to the dismay of the people rooming directly below (sorry guys!).

This was written by the two best leaders of the trip, Claire and Kathy. We would like to tell our family and friends back home that we miss them SO much and can’t wait to see them again, but we are also having lots of fun here too!
