The day wasn’t trash but what we picked up was. The day started at 5:30, which forced us (Cole and Sacario) to wake up 5:00 Am. We got ready and rounded up on the bus to head to Playa (Beach) Arenal to start the clean up. We split into two different groups to cover most of the beach to get what we could get done.

This was Group B and we walked as far as we could to cover more ground on our side of the beach. At first we felt a bit discouraged due to how many microplastics there were after we picked up the initial big plastic objects coupled with how hot it was, but we didn’t give up. We went over every area and made sure that everything was picked up and put in trash bags, finishing the job in 2 hours.

While group B was cleaning, Group A was as well. Group A found and picked up numerous amount of things that was weird and even… UNALIVED sea life (Ms. Chloe wants to specify that we thought the fish might have still been alive when we found it, but unfortunately, it was already dead when we tried returning it to the water). Group A worked hard to clean their portion of the beach and they were extremely relieved when they finally finished, finishing the job right before group B.

This is all the trash we collected from both sides of the beach showing just how much plastic and garbage was left on the shore and in the grass further back. Both groups worked incredibly hard to get the job done and better the sea life all around.

The pictures above and below shows the break the groups took after a long day of cleaning the beach. The picture above is a group chillaxing in the pool and the one on the bottom is a building from the town that another group went to.

Do you think you’ll be up to the challenge to clean up the beach, let us know below,
Big Love, Sacario and Cole

Great post Cole and Sacario. Great work on the beach to everyone. That was a lot of trash. The pool looked like the best way to cool down after all that work. Rest up everyone and great ready for another great day of adventures.

It is shocking how much trash you picked up! That’s hard work in the heat. I hope there were lots of little lizards keeping you company, like the cute one on the arm in the photo! The pool must have felt like heaven. Love seeing you all jump in to this adventure!

Wow! That is alot of trash. It is very sad to see. It was probably very rewarding to know that you are helping the environment and saving a bunch of sea life. I’m proud of you all that you are helping the community and environment.
I have picked up trash from the beach area but never dead fish. I would have a hard time doing that with the smell. The pool had to be so refreshing after a long hard day of work. Hopefully you all got some rest. Enjoy tomorrow!
