¡Hola from Costa Rica! This is Dolcé, Chris Garcia, and Jordany. We had another fun and exciting day with our first CAP task.
We started off the day bright and early at 6:30 AM. At 7:30 we enjoyed a delicious and hearty breakfast: pancakes, scrambled eggs, and yogurt, accompanied with orange juice and coffee. After breakfast, we headed out on our walk to one of the town’s local soccer fields. When we arrived, we played a quick game of charades as our mental warm up of the day; we got started on our work for the day.

We separated everyone into 3 groups; one group with Dolcé, one group with Chris, and one group with Jordany. Dolcé and Chris’ group got started with cleaning the paintbrushes and buckets, while Jordany’s group began to rake and clean the field. Shortly after cleaning the supplies, Chris and Dolce’s groups started sectioning off where we were painting with masking tape. The bottom half of the locker room was already painted blue, so we were assigned to paint the top half yellow (the soccer team’s colors are blue and yellow). We began painting the first few coats of inside and outside the locker rooms. In the midst of working, everyone took a quick break for a dance party! We all danced to the Cha Cha Slide 🙂 While painting, we were very entertained by Chris PG’s singing…

After a few hours of painting, it was time for lunch! Diego and Nela arrived with prepackaged lunches for everyone, we were so grateful as the walk to the field was long and we had worked up an appetite. We enjoyed some delicious arroz con pollo y pintos, relaxed in the sun, had a fun picnic altogether, and had some competitive races (which Dolcé won). After some fun in the sun, we got back to work.

The groups swapped jobs, with Chris and Dolcé’s groups moving to the field and raking, and Jordany’s group finishing up the final coats of yellow paint on the inside and front of the locker rooms. The groups on the field finished up by making piles of the dead leaves and picking up and moving rocks to make a pathway for elder and disabled citizens of Turrialba! 🙂 ( wow so kind of us) . We headed our way back to the house to have one of the most NEEDED naps after such a long day for us glimpsers. During our nap, Fatima (Our GGL) quietly made her way to the living room and snuck our first NAP CAM!!.

We finished off with Diego and Nela’s amazing pasta , garlic bread , and salad. Before our nightly meeting some of glimpsers also prepared cake , guacamole with chips, and many more to prepare us for our MOVIE NIGHT!!!! WOOHOO! Before our movie night Jordany, Chris and Dolce gathered the glimpsers for our nightly meeting where we discussed our day — the pros and cons and our groups plus and wishes for Jordany, Chris and Dolce. Lastly, PASS THE TORCH! PASS THE TORCH! PASS THE TORCH! Donia and Valerie end off the nightly meeting with their amazing singing performance and tomorrow’s agenda.
