Day 5: CAP day 1 (EXecution)

Today was a very fun day. We woke up at 7 am as usual. Then for breakfast we had Presada De Queso, yogurt, cantaloupe, and orange juice. Then we went straight into our CAP project, working with Asada De San Rafael. We worked as a team to scrub water tanks, fences, and the area around them using soap, hoses, sponges and a positive attitude. We took a lunch break, ate yellow rice and beans, and then headed back to work. Sadly, it started raining on us but we pushed through. We finished off and met John, a worker from Asada, who was appreicative off our efforts, which reminded us of our quote of the day; “Never doubt that a small group of committed citizens can make a difference. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has”. -Margaret Mead (U.s. Anthoprologist). After our hard work we stoped at the Pulperia (corner store) and bought some snacks. We then headed back home, jumped in the pool, played cards and played futbol. This was all followed by a delicious American dinner, a burger with fries, which reminded us of home. Stepping into the roles of a leader today was excited and new. We learned a lot by taking initiative as well as trying to be a role model for our peers. We have been enjoying our experience here and can’t wait for more.
