Hi blogggg!!!!!! We miss you all so much!
We started the day off by waking everyone up bright and early at 6:30am. After fighting to get everyone out of their beds, we rounded them all for a nutritious breakfast before starting our long day ahead. The breakfast consisted of scrambled eggs, gallo pinto, plaintains, and the famous Turrialba cheese. The breakfast was delicious and a big hit! After we finished fueling up, energy was low, and as the amazing leaders we are, we proposed a morning stretch out in the grass. After doing some stretching and some yoga, everyone went to their cabins to gather the things they would need during the CAP (Community Action Project) day. We then set off on our forty minute hike to the site. Following arrival, us leaders divided the group up into three, each with one of us supervising. Each group was assigned a specific spot to begin digging, working in 20 minute intervals. Our top priority was making sure everyone was hydrated, not overworked, and well-fed. We continued our hard work until a well deseved lunch of delicious sandwiches. This is unfortunately where Alani’s part of the day ended… however: Mila and Ella perservered without the support of our bestie. We then worked for a few more grueling hours digging a long ditch for new water pipes for the community until our departure, but we werent done yet. This is when our forty minute walk back to our base started. We climbed back up all of hills and Camilla, our new dog friend, followed us home. To wash off all of the sweat and dirt from the day, everyone took a mandatory shower and completed a survey about our awesome trip thus far. We then kept ourselves busy with a couple of competitive games of ping-pong until dinner was ready. Dinner was a healthy but yummy fish paired with mashed poatoes, steamed veggies and of course, rice. Following dinner and our nightly meeting in which we thanked everyone for their hard work, we all gathered around the projecter for the movie, Bottoms. Bottoms was a big hit and we put our tired asses to bed. Overall a great day filled with lots of hard work. We miss you all very much!
Signed, your favorite leaders, Alani, Ella, and Mila.
