Heyy this is Saul S, Nathan R, and Victoria D and we were the leaders of the day today for Day 5! Today we gave our fellow glimpsers a wake up call at about 6:30am to get them ready for breakfast which we had at 7:00! The breakfast today was breakfast sandwiches, French fries, and some juice and it absolutely rocked this morning it was awesome!

Following our breakfast we had our daily mental and physical health check up at around 7:45am which after that we departed for our Community Action Project! The goal for today’s CAP project was to collect Red Mongrove seedlings and plant them into a seed bag. We started the day of meeting up with the our environmentalist, Julia, who is doing work with the peace corps in Panama. Then as a group we headed to the Mangrove Forest, where we took an hour scenic hike, to reach our destination. Julia taught us what to look for in Mangrove seeds (about 5 inches long), and we all got to work! About 30 minutes in we reached a really muddy spot, where EVERYONE eventually got stuck. But this is the price you pay when you work hard. By the hour mark we had lots of grocery bags filled with the Mangrove seedlings and headed to our the nursery.

When we arrived we grabbed seedlings, bags, and some dirt. As team we worked to fill the seed bags to help with Julia’s current project of reforesting Mangroves. Once we all finished filling the bags we placed them in the nursery. After we left the mangrove we went to the school to have lunch and unload the supplies for our cap project. We unloaded cement, cinder blocks and gravel. After a brief intermission of cleaning ourselves up real quick, we headed to our dance class!! We learned some basics of Bachata, Reggaeton, and other Panamian related dances. Following this, we finished the day off with some hamburgers and fries for dinner and had our nightly meeting!
