Hello, today’s “Liders Del Dia” were Judson and Morgan!
We drove over to our partners at Bilingüe Plinio Antonio Moscoso High School, where we were able to talk with some of the students and staff about their school. Some of the glimpsers were not confident in their Spanish-speaking abilities, but despite this, they tried to learn the language and communicate through the language barrier. To prepare for our CAP—where we will be helping the school by painting murals—we planned and presented the designs based on the sketches from one of the students (which are beautiful). What was surprising was that rural regions are facing higher dropout rates compared to urban schools, and our CAP will hopefully help students feel proud to study tourism here.
Throughout the day we played Uno and dominos, and at the end of the day we shared a cake! As “Liders Del Dia,” the responsibilities we had were somehow both more and less than expected, but it helped me learn about how fulfilling it is to be a leader.
Overall, we had a great day and are excited for tomorrow. Big love to Luis and Fabian for stepping out of their comfort zone and helping translate!!!
