Day 4: SustainABLE DeveLOPMENt

Hey guys, this is Josyah and Sean; the student-leaders of the trip for today. Today was a day of discovery and learning. The day started off slow but gradually began to rise with positive energy and team morale. We as glimpsers felt that we became one unit today; like a familia. Today, the wake up call was at 6:30 am. It was a little hastle pushing our agenda back because not every glimpser was on time. Breakfast was at 7:30am to get everybody fueled up for the long day ahead of us. After breakfast, we made way to our bus to travel about 40 minutes to the Azuero Península. We met Sandra who is a local community leader promoting Sustainable Development Project of Reforestation in a place she calls home. She educated us about her life and her lifetime goal to bring back original tropical plant species to the jungles of Azuero. She also told us about her goals to save the Azuero Spider Monkey, which is an endangered species with only an estimate 153 left only located in the forest of Azuero, Panama.

Soon after we left, they decided to treat us to a delicious lunch with salad, chicken, and rice. Today was a day of resilence and lessons learned. We as glimpsers learned from our mistakes, and mistakes are a part of life. It’s all about how we persevere. We look forward to seeing what our new leaders of tommorrow do.
