Hello friends and families,
Today in Las Tablas, we (Kimala Johnson-Fisher and Yancy Alegre-Pacheco) were the leaders of the day.
To put sustainable development into perspective, the glimpsers visited NutreHogar. NutreHogar is an organization which provides nutrition to malnourished kids in small indigenous communities who do not have easy accessibility to resources – in order to restore their health. We were fortunate enough to have a panel with the manager of NutreHogar in Las Tablas, Marruquel. She discussed the issues the kids were facing in the local communities, the accomplishments they have made, and the challenges they endure. After listening to Marruquel, the glimpsers devised a plan to make the facility more comfortable for the kids to enjoy.
Talking to the group, we all agreed that this experience greatly impacted the amount of empathy we have when viewing different communities. A majority of the glimpsers mentioned their aspirations in working with individuals who need support. Having a face to face experience with underdeveloped communities brought light to many aspects of in living in a big city that is often overlooked.
Mom, Dad, siblings, nephews, and boyfriend I miss and love you so very much 🩷. Good luck on your fight Isaac, if you win we will get Cookie Crumble! A special shoutout to Honorio Blanco: thank you for the sweet comment and can’t wait for our Korean bbq date 🥰.

Great blog Kimala and Yancy! I also love that you all posted an LDD pic, that should be standard practice. You did a great job of summarizing the day, it’s purpose and impact of the group while also showing positive/enthusiasm and still finding space to give shoutouts. Nice work!
