Day 4: Immigration by Irvin & Dimari

  • We woke up at 5:30 AM. We woke up the group at 6:00 AM.
  • At 7:00 AM, we had breakfast. The breakfast was bread, scrambled eggs, cereal, yogurt, ham, cheese, salad, and dressing (there was also peanut butter, ketchup, mayonnaise, and marmalade).
  • At 7:30 AM, we had to transport from La Salle to Puerto Plata. We saw beautiful views outside when we were traveling in the bus, such as the nature, animals, houses, etc.
  • At 10:30 AM, we met the Kerolle Initiative for Community Health (KICH) and listened an important speech about the community. We learned about the importance of education and health that benefit in the community of Dominican Republic. We also did an activity about BIG LOVE in the community with the children and it was great!
  • At 12:00 PM, we had to transport from Kerolle Initiative for Community Health (KICH) to a restaurant for lunch. The weather was nice.
  • At 12:30 PM, we had lunch at the restaurant. The lunch was rice with beans, salad (vegetables), tuna salad, and chicken.
  • At 1:30 PM, we had to transport from the restaurant to a hotel. We saw beautiful views again, such as the mountains, insects, and the lands.
  • At 2:00 PM, we have arrived at the hotel and we had to do a check in. We had to get our rooms and after that, we had rest.
  • At 2:30 PM, as we finished our 45 minute rest in the hotel to freshen up and change into our swimsuits, we were told to meet as a group in the lobby area to start walking towards our next activity.
  • At 3:00 PM, walking towards our next activity, we soon learned it was a trip to the beach! Most of the students never same in salt water before so it was exciting for the most part.
  • At 5:00 PM, we started to wrap up the beach trip, after creating new memories, we started to head back to the hotel that there was an extra activity waiting for us.
  • At 6:00 PM, we were shocked when the next activity was us heading inside a pool that had a perfect view of the ocean and also had amazing spots for pictures. some decided there was enough water time and wanted to freshen up and relax before dinner. As time passed phone calls and mid trip global glimpse surveys were being completed.
  • At 7:00 PM, we all gathered as a group in a outside patio to eat dinner as a group. Each student chose a dinner and ate under the beautiful sunset.
  • At 8:00 PM, shortly after dinner, we headed down towards a nearby area to conclude the day with a nightly meeting and announce the new LDD’s. It was humid and dark so we decided to speed the meeting up so everybody could end their night in a good ending.
  • At 9:00 PM, everybody took their last minute photos of the ocean before heading up to their assigned rooms. Weirdly we forgot to complete the blog because of the time filling day and exhaugsten filling our mindsets.
  • At 10:00 PM, it was lights out meaning nobody was allowed to leave their rooms and it was time to start heading to bed on time in order to wake up bright and early for the journey awaiting for us the next day.
