day 4: IMMIGRATION

Today we woke up at 6 AM not knowing how our day would unravel. We arrived in Sosua and got to experience how the Haitians daily lives were. First, we spoke to one of the leaders of this community, Reginold, he described how people lived, and gave us a tour of the community while the kids followed along to help. We heard the stories of the Haitian kids growing up in the Dominican Republic and the discrimination they face for being Haitian. Later, we arrived at the resort, where we got ready for the beach on this hot day. We had ice cream and fruits for snacks. After the beach we went to the resort’s pool, playing Marco Polo and other water games to bond more as a group. After a long day, we had a family style dinner where we talked about hypothetical’s and life stories.
