Day 4: Downtown turrialba

Today was a day of exploration. We started today with a very competitive mental warmup, where we battled in a simon says race. Some hands got dirty but we managed. Then we were off, taking a bus dowtown to the market. We got to experience and learn the different cultures and food around town. We followed this with our second CAP seminar, as well as a culture exchange preperation for the day at the school later in the week. We finished the day with a delicous dinner, as well as smores by the fire (took a little to get it going).

We all thought it was an amazing opportunity to lead such a great group of people. It not only brought us closer with everyone, but also built stronger bonds to our family during this adventure. One thing were proud of is how we have been able to break everyone out of their shells, and be more comfortable with each other.

The highlight of the day was at night, as we all came together for a 4th of July celebration. Even though we were far from home, we found ways to share our own culture in Costa Rica. Our group worked together to start a fire, followed by a group dance party under the stars. This celebration brought our group even closer, and ready for tommorrow’s first day with the CAP.
