Day 4: Cultural Exchange Prep and CAP Seminar 2

The day started early and on time (finally YAY!!), with a foggy sky at 7:00 AM, with a delicious breakfast of eggs, toast, mixed fruit bowl with yogurt, granola, and a very scrumptious coffee and tea. Afterwards, we participated in a Cultural Exchange Prep. The 3 groups, which were sports, crafts, and language, each brainstormed very unique and fun ideas to teach the elementary school students different things from our Californian culture.

After our brain worked so hard 🙁 We had a filling meal of fried rice and beet salad, accompanied by tamarindo juice for lunch :).

Despues, Ayana, Ronny, Belinda, and Maria asked Memo in Spanish (Ronny did) for permission to go to the pulperia (store). We got our workout in climbing up the steep hill, and made it to the pulperia and spent many colones on very yummy (not so healthy) snacks. On the way back, we saw a freshly born calf taking its first steps next to its mother. We also encountered a baby chick, which seemed to have chosen Miguel as its favorite. Arriving from the pulperia, the glimpsers had a much-needed break, where they hung out and chillaxed.

This was followed by our 2nd CAP seminar hosted by Memo. Then our brains had to go to work again, creating posters in different groups to prepare for our community action project (CAP). The presentation included resources, steps, and task distribution. The glimpsers had a lot of fun, especially drawing themselves on the posters.

Later on in the afternoon, we finally got our 2nd call home :)!! The glimpsers were very happy and emotional to finally talk to their loved ones and show them around our accommodation. Meanwhile, others kept themselves busy playing different card games like Uno, Speed, and Ping Pong.

For dinner, we had fish, steamed vegetables, and plantains, accompanied by pineapple and peppermint juice.

Excitedly, today we had movie night! The movie Wicked was voted on, which was met with technical difficulties, but luckily, we had our snacks to keep us busy. But, eventually the movie started playing, and we got to enjoy part of it, until the computer died :(.
