Today we had so much fun. For breakfast we had pancakes in the shape of Mickey Mouse!! We spent the day prepping for our exciting day tomorrow where we will meet with students at a local school. We created our own activities and brainstormed together. In addition, we visited the town of Turrialba by walking and public transport. In town we met many local people, for example a woman at a local ice stand and workers at a panaderia. We also went to a thrift store to buy clothes for CAP! It was very rainy in town but nonetheless we persevered and maybe even built a deeper connection with each other. After coming back from our day in the city we had delicious chicken and rice for lunch. Afterwards, we had our second CAP Seminar where we learned more about our community action project. We will be working with the association of ASADA and Deportes in Costa Rica. Our project is centered on water filtration systems for the local community. We will be continuing a project that previous associations were working on. We also got the chance to call our parents for a little!! We leaders were nervous initially but throughout the day we learned about how we choose “to lead” and how teamwork makes the dream work as we communicated well and built each other up.
It has been very rainy throughout the day, however our group kept their spirits high. While being Lider del Dia we took responsibility for the team and we also made sure everyone was on time to events.

Today we went downtown and due to us being leaders of the day in a new location, we thought it would be extremely taxing having to take care / manage multiple people the same age as us. But because everyone maintained a certain maturity level. They focused on prioritizing themselves and making our job easier. This lifted a lot of the pressure off of our shoulders. For the next Leaders of the Day, we would suggest that you discuss the roles and responsibilities with your partner(s) LOTD, that way everybody has one consistent job and nobody takes everything on by themselves.
All in all, we had a great time everyone stayed safe and healthy and most importantly, had a memorable experience in the town today. We are happy that now we can take a big sigh of relief and enjoy some fun watching our MOVIE NIGHT!
Big Love,
Bella, Aaron, Kamara
