Day 4 CAP Day #1

Hello, families and friends! This is Katherine, Angelica, and Jaden, the leaders of the day.

We started our day by eating eggs, sausages, and toast with guava jam for breakfast, which was delicious! After, we did various stretches led by Jaden and prepared to make our way to start our part of the community action project (collecting shovels, gloves, snacks). You might be wondering why we would be collecting shovels.. Well our project was to dig a trench near our basehouse where we installed a water pipe for local communities who get minimal amounts of water. After we made our way to the work area, we experimented how to lead a team and incorporate different types of ways in which we could work together strategically. Digging was a hassle with all the giant rocks and two pickaxes (that the entire group had to share!) but we made great progress. Angelica even dug out a rock the size of a boulder! After strenuous digging and MANY reminders to drink water by Angelica, Katherine and Jaden, we made our way back up for lunch (which was fish, mashed potatoes, and salad) and then returned to the work location for another round of digging.

Our downtime consisted of calling back home to our families, whom we miss so much, and sharing our exciting experiences so far.

After a long day of fighting bugs, rocks, and cold showers, we headed to dinner, which was spaghetti and blackberry juice. After our yummy dinner, we held the nightly meeting and passed the torch to our lovely friends Gina, Sydney, and Gabby. We are wrapping up the day with Jaden teaching the line dance to Footloose.
