What’s up, guys? It’s Josh and Jane! Today we were the Leaders of the Day, otherwise known as LDDs (Líderes del Día).
Our topic was Aid and Development, and we were introduced to our CAP Project! We took a trip to Pedasí, where we met with Sandra, the executive director of Pro Eco Azuero. She shared her history in reforestation, and we learned a lot about Pro Eco Azuero’s main drive and purpose. We discovered the severity of deforestation in Pedasí, which opened our hearts and minds to take action for the future. Something shocking we learned today was that spider monkeys, an endemic species, need about 120-140 hectares to live—they only have 40! Throughout the speech, it was heartening to observe our peers asking insightful questions and sharing Sandra’s passion for reforestation. The most inspiring person we met today was by far Sandra, with her impressive career spanning psychology, business, and now environmentalism.
Being an LDD was quite an experience, as we had to keep track of the schedule, time, and the presence and engagement of the group. We started the day by waking up 45 minutes earlier than the rest of our peers to get ourselves ready. Then we woke them up and had a delicious breakfast (pancakes, sausages, beef, traditional Panamanian foods, and orange juice). After breakfast, we loaded onto the bus and took a trip to a park in Pedasí, where we played games and listened to some tunes. We then took a short bus ride to Pro Eco Azuero to hear Sandra’s speech. Afterward, we returned to the hotel and enjoyed some free time at the pool, playing games including volleyball and a jumping competition. We then cleaned up and gathered for our CAP Seminar #2. After the seminar, we went outside for dinner cooked by Ilka and José. After dinner, we had some free time where we made friendship bracelets and relaxed. Finally, we had our nightly meeting, during which we passed the LDD torch to Pam and Kyheem.
Our day was so fulfilling, packed with fun and education! We miss our loved ones very much and can’t wait to reunite.

I love this post , hey guys ! Listen deforestation and just overall environmental neglect is a big problem! Dude did you guys ever wonder why in the United States we experience more issues with seasonal allergies than anywhere else? It’s because we have NO FEMALE trees. Male trees produce pollen, where as female trees produce fruit. The US regulates that, but that’s just some food for thought.
