Day 3 – Culture Day

What is up fellow friends and family, this is Dylan Hernandez and Leilani Granillo Hernadez. Today we woke up at 7:00 AM as per our wakeup call and began our day, our breakfast for today included fresh fruit, toast, scrambled eggs, and other tasty choices. We later had our program seminar and mental warmup that led us to travel to Los Bohios (Small Traditonal Huts) Where we learned about the process of making Casabe (Traditional bread) made out of Yuca; paired with fresh cocoa beans, freshly made hot chocolate. & traditional Dominican Coffee.

After that we had lunch where we were served traditional Dominican food featuring abichuelas, white rice, and fresh salad (with Domican Avocados). We were later able to jump in to pool for a quick cool down. And that led us to our next activity where as a group we got to visit a local grocery store (La Sirena) where we purchased yummy treats. After our long day out we got to come back into Las Salles (our current home) and enjoy our treats, before jumping into our next topic, which was learning to dance cultural music including Bachata, Merengue, and Salsa.

Which was promptly followed with a break before dinner. Dylan learned how to do a backflip with the help of Santiago, Christian, and Gerardo. While others played games (Volleyball, Uno, and Gossiped).Which got us connected and ready for our nightly meeting. Where we dicussed our question of the day, the quote of the day, and the first experience of the LDDS.

Where we then passed the torch to our day 4 LDDS (Lideres del Dia / Leaders of the Day), William and Angela who performed a beautiful Salsa performance to Bad Bunny.
