Day 3: Culture! CUltura!

Hi fellow family and friends of Global Glimpse students!

Today we went to La panaderia (The bakery) La Medalla Milagrosa and got to hear some wisdom and life advice from our guest speaker, Orlando, the owner of the bakery. Greeting us with a warm welcome with food delicious and letting us know that from this day on, we will all be like family to him. Taking us through how the process of baking dough through a huge furnace he made with the help of his business partner and wife. We will always havein mind all the care and passion he had for his business all the way through- even when we come back home.(L)

Later on the day, we took the bus and headed to Don Dario’s workshop where we had the great opportunity to make facemasks. As we listened to Don Dario, we were able to see the incredible skills that he has when sculpting out the faces out of clay. we were able to paint our own masks and enjoys the beautiful performance that Don Dario’s grandson showed. Not only did we learn the process of mking masks, but we were able to understand the purpose of them and get the opportunity to experience being part of a culture that welcomes you with open arms.

Through the rest of the day, we were able to socialize with others and create bonds by playing cards and impostor. Its incredible to see the amount of social time we’ve been doing after our phones have been taken away. But after 3 days have past, we’ve connected so well that we’ve all become family. A place where only laughs and screams take over the whole hotel that has now become home.(S)

Heads up! tomorrow June 29th, we will have the opportunity to have a call home for 10 minutes. Make sure to respond an unknown number because that might be your child! Expect the call around 2:00pm!
