Day 3 Culture appreciation

Our day today was a blast!! We woke up at 7:30, took a quick shower, and went for an amazing breakfast. After, we left HQ and headed off to the families we were going to accompany for the day and learn how to make tortillas and empanadas with. However, turns out we didn’t go just for that. We ended up spending the day having fun and learning new things about the Costa Rican culture.

We went to visit these amazing families. As soon as we got there, they took us to a beautiful butterfly garden where we got to hold and see how butterflies are born and how they are in nature. After, they made us Chicharrones, (pork meat), which is a special dish that Costan Rican families only make for when special people come to visit. We helped in the process of making the meat and it was genuinely one of the most delicious dishes we’ve ate so far. Then they gave us raspado which was amazing as well. After some fun and games we went and finally made empanadas and tortillas. We truly felt a part of their communities today.
