Day 3: Community day & cap seminar 1

Day 3… the sun arose over the sleeping beauties, specifically our precious staff who got up so early in the morning to sweep and make breakfast for everybody. Afterwards, when the amazing LDD’s sang and danced for our sleeping glimpsers to wake them up for breakfast. For breakfast, we had un simple but delicious omelettes with chile, queso, jamon, y cebolla. After this amazing and filling breakfast, we spent our time to get ready to hike and meet our welcoming mamaticas and their beautiful homes up in the mountains with bonita vistas y animals.

Once introductions were given many played engaging games while others interestingly watched TV?!! Each group spent their lunch with their families eating certain dishes such as seasoned fish with baked potatoes and rice or arroz con pollo. After lunch we made empanadas with the families and had a fun time creating conversations that will last a lifetime.

As our visit came to an unfortunate end, we made sure to take our last group photos and said our goodbyes. We started our 1,000 step journey back wishing we never left.

We quickly made our way back and went straight to base house to attend our two seminars: sustainable development and CAP Seminar 1. We learned how we could support this community by contributing, not doing. After this hour long lecture regarding our true purpose for being here, we took a dinner break. For dinner we were served pumpkin cream and rice with plantain chips. This delicious meal was served with a refreshing orange and peppermint juice.

Dinner was excellente and helped everyone feel energized before the nightly meeting. We closed out our day as leaders, read the question and quote of the day, and gave our pluses and wishes to our fellow glimpsers. Sadly, we had to pass the torch on to the new leaders of the day. The nightly meeting came to a close and the glimpsers went on to take showers and play hide and seek before bed. The day ended with high spirits for the next day.

Sharon and Valentina wanted to give a special shoutout to the Global Glimpse Leaders, the communities we visited today, and to our fellow glimpsers for embodying what community day should be like.

Pura vida!
