Day 4: Excursion to Turrialba

Hey Blog! Itzel, Daniel, and Yvette here: our first leaders of the day! Today our team focused on connecting with Santa Rosa’s community. Where we separated into 3 groups and got to experience the culture, food, lifestyle, and sense of community by visiting the homes of three local families (Yessica, Maribel, Adriana).
We started our day by walking to the center of Santa Rosa, walking up the Giant hills we got the opportunity to see the Rainbow tree.
Passing by local shops where many of us bought ice creams to cool down.
After we meet with the families, outside the shop where we then separated into our three groups for 5 hours! Here you can see a photo of Moriah and Chloe making tortillas and empanadas. All of us got the chance to make a tradition dish made by flour, oil, and cheese!
After sadly saying our goodbyes and shedding a few tears with the families that gracefully embraced us, we made our way back to the our beautiful base house. We had an hour of downtime where many glimpsers took the opportunity to jump into the pool. For dinner we had rice, garbanzos con cerdo or chicken, and a nice healthy salad.
