Day 3- Community day and cap seminar 1

Hello Families and Friends,

Today we had a very exciting day since it was our first full day. We were woken up by the first Leaders of the Day at 7am and we made our way to Breakfast which started promptly at 8. Today we ate a delicious breakfast of Pancakes, eggs, toast, pineapple, and Costa Rican Coffee. Afterwards we had a fun game of King of the Hill style Rock Paper Scissors and a long game of Duck Duck Goose.

Next, we met three lovely women who invited us into their homes and showed us a typical day in Costa Rican life would be. Each group had a different experience to learn about. The first group run by Nathan was the biggest and they met a woman named Karen and she introduced them to her whole family. She was a very nice, welcoming, wholesome, and warm person and we enjoyed the time spent with her. The special experience for this group was learning about her house which was built by a man named Martin. The next group was run by Joshua and they met a woman named Carmen. She was a very hospitable and sweet person. The special experience for this group was they were able to take an extra tour and explore the community more in depth. The final group was run by Victoria and this group met a wonderful woman named Ligia. She was a very sweet person and she loved to joke around with the group. The special experience for this group was that her house has a massive garden which is full of different types of fruits and coffee. This group was given a tour and some interesting facts while watching how to maintain quality plants. One shared experience we all took part of in each house was learning how to make tortillas and empanadas.

Afterwards, groups two and three made their way back to our base house and waited for Nathan’s group to arrive. Once everyone made it back safely we had some free time and the group split between playing pool, playing in the pool, and playing cards by and in the pool. We had so much fun (and lost some time due to Nathan’s group) that our GG Leaders allowed us some extra time for fun and cleanup before our CAP (Community Action Project) seminar. After we finished cleaning up and sat down for a lovely dinner. We were served Burgers, fries, and Chicharron chips with some fruit punch. Finally, the leaders gave a recap and talked about our day a little more before passing on the torch to the next Leaders of the Day.

Have a wonderful evening everyone! We all miss you so much and cannot wait to see you all again!
