Today me (Samuel) And Oscar were the first brave leaders of the day, our first tasks which was in the afternoon we had to show an amazing talent to show we were worthy enough to carry the torch, once we had proven ourselves, we sent everyone upstairs and reviewed the agenda for the next day. Once finished, our job was to go knock on people’s doors and inform them that it was lights out. Once we got everyone inside, we patrolled the hallway for a couple minutes and thankfully everyone was asleep.

In the morning me and Oscar woke up at 6am, got ready and at 7:30am we started waking folks up as well as reminding them breakfast was almost ready. Once that was done everyone was informed that breakfast was ready and brought their journals to enjoy the fresh cooked meal they had prepared us and for the morning seminar/health check meeting. After the meeting everyone got ready at 10 am to go on a city expedition and get familiar with the surrounding places. After walking a couple blocks around we all prepared our journey to go to a bakery and eat lunch there.

The bakery, Panaderia la Medalla Milagrosa, was founded by Orlando and his wife, Yamileth, which gave us some delicious lunch which was rice and chicken, with plantains and fresh baked bread. The lunch was super delicious and after we had ate, they took us on a special tour of how they make and bake the bread. Once the tour was done, we were able to buy there specialized bread for really cheap and students were able to turn sugarcane into freshly squeezed sugarcane juice.

We headed back to the hotel after saying bye and we were notified we will be having another guest on our trip which his name was Dario, he arrived after they given us a 15-minute break and talked to us about the dirty devil masks (diablo sucio) he given us some stencils to paint on and while they preformed some dances related to the mask.

At 5:15pm we had a project seminar which was about planning our CAP (community act project) day tomorrow and we decided on a lot of good ideas. At 6pm we had dinner which were some good burritos and once dinner was over, we had a nightly meeting on who will be the next leaders of the day (we can’t say anything yet)….. We learned today that leaders are responsible to track time and let people know what’s going on. We also learned about the 3 C’s (courage, commitment, compassion) and how they help us learn throughout the days to come.

PS idk if its Selena’s bday but happy Bday!, Also I didn’t write this with AI ma.- love Sammy

I love hearing what you’re all learning! Time is one of our most valuable resources, and great leaders respect it by keeping everyone informed and on track. The 3 C’s—Courage, Commitment, and Compassion—are such a strong foundation for leadership.

What a great way to prepare for adulthood and college! These are life skills that will serve you well far beyond this program.

Keep growing—you’ve got this!

Hey Boo, it was awesome to get your call this evening. I’m so happy to see your smiles in the blog pics. You should be so proud of yourself for stepping out of your comfort zone! Don’t be hard on yourself for being a little home sick, it’s a natural emotion (frankly I’d be more concerned if you didn’t miss us LOL!). It’s all part of the adventure. You’re living the experience. Love you andcan’t wait to hear more, Dad
