Heyyy everyone!! It’s Valerie and Jayleen your last LDD’s for the trip! Today marked the beginning of our travel home and it consisted of several activities that were focused on us reflecting on our journey up until this point, a stop at a souvenir shop, and a bus ride back to San Jose where we also had our last dinner together!

The first half of the day consisted of many activities that encouraged each of us to reflect both on our individual growth as well as our impact on each others’ journeys. We started off with creating a map of what our journey with Global Glimpse looked like from start to finish, and answered 4 main questions that focused on leadership, inspiration, significant moments, and personal growth. Afterwards, we split up into 4 small groups and shared our maps and discussed the questions, giving us insight into each others’ journeys. Then, we started another activity where we sat in a circle with our eyes closed and volunteers would stand in the middle of the circle with their eyes open and tap on the person that they thought applied to whatever prompt was given! For example, one of the most memorable prompts for us was “Tap someone who is beautiful inside and out”. This activity made all of us realize just how big of an impact we had on each other, despite only knowing each other for 10 days. Our next activity was “Start, Stop, and Continue” which consisted of us going to three different stations and writing one or two things down that we wanted to start when we got back home, one or two things we wanted to stop doing when we returned home, and lastly one or two things that we wanted to continue once we returned home. Lastly we ended our reflections with doing our last “Big Loves”. We sat in a circle and we each wrote our names on a piece of paper that we then passed around giving everyone a chance to write a little bit about that person has impacted their journey with Global Glimpse. All these activities brought us all together and really made us appreciate one another and at times they were a bit emotional.

Later on in the day we enjoyed our last lunch made for us by the amazing staff and got ready to head to San Jose. When leaving we had some issues with the bus but don’t worry they were quickly resolved! We then continued our three hour drive to San Jose. Along the way we stopped at a souvenir shop to but some gifts for our families but for ourselves as well. We spent about an hour then and then continued our journey to San Jose again making one final stop for dinner at Ikua, a restaurant that specialized in Costa Rican food and it was sooo good! We finished our journey by arriving at our hotel and getting checked in and spent the last hour spending as much time together as we can before we have to say goodbye tomorrow.
As this trip comes to an end we are realizing how much of an impact this experience has had on us. We have many so many wonderful connection and have all gotten so close, we have truly become a family and care for one another tremendously. Thank you to our wonderful PC’s and GG Leaders they have made this trip so incredible and have made us all feel at home and comfortable to be ourselves. We also wanted to thank all of our families for supporting us on this journey we can’t wait to see you all when we get back!!

Much love, Valerie & Jayleen!!
