DAY 10: Final Reflection

HEYY… Willow, Nylah, Karla, and Andrea here as the final leaders of the day! Today was our final day in Jarabacoa, filled with goodbyes that never remain permanent but rather temporary. Today, we began our day with an early rise at seven o’clock this morning, followed by a delicious breakfast of mashed plantains, squash, eggs, salami, and fruit. This yummy food was then followed by a 3-hour morning seminar to wrap up the time we spent in the Dominican Republic with reflections and lots of big love. From sharing the moments we loved with each other and reflecting on all of our amazing memories gained. We then enjoyed our lunch of stewed chicken, rice, salad, and fruit, which was tasty and flavorful. Following this, we sat around the villa for a little while, waiting for the moment we could hop on the bus. Twas not chill. During this extended period of time, we took our final digital evaluation, sharing our thoughts about the ups and downs of the trip as well as what we thought about the time we spent together. Simultaneously, other students worked on their postcards, thanking our sponsors and supporters who allowed us to participate in the trip. After drawing on for what felt like days, the bus arrived, and more than half of the delegation hopped on the bus to be taken to the waterfall. Fortunately for those who did attend, the waterfall did live up to our expectations, with lots of scenic greenery as well as many people to watch enjoying the water. Unfortunately, some members of our delegation felt ill, but that didn’t stop them from enjoying the fun, as afterwards, members who did attend the waterfall shared their experiences as they got ready for pizza, and played soccer to pass the time. We then headed to “Pizza y Pepperoni” to conclude our time together. Everyone arrived, dressed up in their Sunday best, looking quite snazzy. Lots of final pictures and moments were shared between the group while enjoying four cheese pizza, pepperoni pizza, chicken barbecue pizza, and Hawaiian pizza. After we finished pizza, we all chilled at the table and watched game 5 -Spurs vs. Knicks – until we unfortunately got kicked from the table. Luckily, the restaurant had lots of photogenic spots to make up for it, where everyone flicked up together, sharing our final moments. Sadly, TCB shared their final photo with our blood brother Daniel, who will be dearly missed after the trip. Then we took our last bus ride with the song of the trip named “Me La Sube” where everyone knew all the lyrics, sharing the last ride to the villa together. Following, we had our last nightly meeting filled with big loves and more reflection. Now our glimpsers are packing, preparing for the flight ahead of us, and getting ready to reunite with our friends and families. We are so excited to see all the Glimpser families and thank everyone for reading and constantly checking in on our delegation.
