Hello everyone it’s Savannah, Anastacia , and Amberly! We were today’s LDDs and it was unfortunately our last day here in the DR. We experienced a rainy storm, but we were all safe and able to head into town, get pizza for dinner, and grouped around a bonfire. Today, we reflected a great amount on our personal growth and the connections we have built amongst ourselves.
Heyy I’m Savannah 🙂 I’m a rising senior at Pittsburg high school and I’ve had the best 10 days with my amazing Global Glimpse group here in Jarabacoa. Today we did deal with a rain storm but that did not stop us from enjoying our last day! The group today was super flexible with all the schedule changes today which really showed me as a leader how much this trip has impacted all of our lives. The community that we have built within this town is something unorgettable and seeing everyone united and together enjoying this last day made my heart very happy. Whether it was waking around town getting ice cream, singing on the bus rides, or enjoying the best pizza dinner we all have become one because of this trip. Another part of are day was saying bye to many people that helped make this trip possible. One of those being the wonderful two chefs that cooked for us everyday. Their names are Evelyn and Lauri. They both worked so hard for us day and night. The group is so thankful for them much love for the two of them!!
I loved being leader of the day today because it being so close to the end the bonds that the group has created shined so bright! Before I end I want to shoutout my beautiful parents and my little brother Dylan for all the love and support they constantly give me! Also thanks to my teachers and GG ambassadors at school who supported me throughout my whole journey much love to you all 💖💖💘💝💞
Hello everybody, my name is Amberly, and I am a student of James Logan High School! Today was an emotional day for the group as we participated in many reflecting activities where there were tears of joy and exchanges of hugs. This taught me how close a group of people can get in a short amount of time and how easy it can be to show appreciation toward another person. Something that surprised me today would be when I realized how fast this trip went by and how much we have done in Jarabacoa. This is truly a unique experience as we were able to be true travelers, not just tourists. I am very proud of the group for being present today since they put in the effort to voice their thanks to one another and reminisce on this experience. Being the Leader of the Day on the last day was bittersweet as I had to fulfill my role while being empathetic toward my fellow glimpsers who were trying to make the most of the day. Though in general, I definitely enjoyed this role. I feel like I succeeded as well through learning how to lead this group from the past LDDs. From this position, I have learned how confident I can be and display in order to lead a large group like this. Shoutout to my mom, dad, and younger brother Peyton ❤️. I will see you guys tomorrow!!

Hello, my name is Anastacia and I attend Gateway High School. This trip went by quite slow yet so fast at the same time. Today, I felt went by quickly as we had a pretty emotional final seminar where we reflected on ourselves and how we as individuals impacted others with or without us knowing. With unexpected rain and lightning our plans had to shift from going to a waterfall to going back into town. This was a day that required a lot of flexibility which is something as a group we handled well. The flexibility from the group with a sudden change when we were all ready to go was somewhat surprising because I expected more complaining and disappointment. However everything else was great. We went into town and into a souvenir shop, went and got the same ice cream we did in on the first full day, and ended our time here in the Dominican Republic with lots and lots of pizza. I’m proud of everyone for their flexibility, their positive attitudes, and the work they put into the CAP project. And I’m proud of myself too for being one of the LDDs on the last day. Being an LDD is a important component of this program and was thing I was the least excited for. However being an LDD wasn’t as bad as I thought because I had two very natural leaders to help me navigate the struggles of leading a group, especially a larger group. Lastly, I would like to thank my family for their support, and Jasmine, one of the staff members at my school who nominated me for Global Glimpse and giving me this opportunity!
