Hi all!!
Today was such a productive day! We began the day by waking up at around 7 am then waking everyone else up at 7:30 am. We had breakfast at 8 am, which consisted of pancakes, eggs, and lemonade. Shortly after, we left to go to our CAP Site in the community up in the mountains.
For our morning work there, we finished carrying up all of the sand using our assembly line. In the still-standing community center, we started to put together our concrete mixture of sand, rocks, and cement. Lunch time came around, so our group made the quick trip back to Dilenia. We enjoyed fried chicken, salad, and yellow rice with corn. It truly was quick, because we all wanted to get back to work!
As soon as we got back, we all found a wonderful rhythm in which a lot got done. We were able to make two massive heaps of concrete to put into the trenches we dug yesterday. Eventually, sweaty but proud of ourselves, we made our way back to Dilenia where we all took cold showers (brrr)! Free time was from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm, until dinner, where we were all so happy to see the chicken fettuccine alfredo fresh from the kitchen!
After dinner, we had our nightly meeting where the 3 of us had to say goodbye to our leader duties. Lex, Jordan, and I (Becca) all had such a great day today with everyone. Despite the grueling heat and the trials we have gone through as the absolute best leaders of 19 other glimpsers, we prevailed and ensured a successful day for everyone.
It is quite clear that, by this point, everyone misses home in some way. I wanted to add a quick reminder to all parents/guardians that your child (probably ;)) loves and misses you very much. Have a wonderful night, and we’ll see you in a few days!
Personal Notes:
To Mom and Dad, from Becca: Hi guys! I miss you so much and I can’t believe the trip is almost over. I never thought I’d actually admit that I miss Julia, but I do. Can’t wait for the big hugs I’ll get in the airport in 3 days. Love you so so much. <3
To Mom and Lois, from Jordan: Hi guys I miss you both so so much! I’m so sad the trip is almost over but I’m so excited to give you guys the biggest hugs ever!!! Tell the family I say hi and I love you all very very much! <3
To Mom and Juliet, From Lex: I miss you both so much! I’m doing well, and I’ve been more social and willing to try new things than ever! (Foods, ativities, social stuff) I love you both and I can’t wait to see you guys again. Say hi to Nana, Dad, and Jordan for me and tell them I miss and love them. Hugs for all of you! <3

Shoot looks like you Glimpsers are doing some serious work! Mixing cement is no joke. Appreciate the time that you have together and find the joy in knowing that you are helping others. And take cold showers. The weather here has been pretty muggy. Even though you’ll be coming home soon, you’ll be leaving something behind that will benefit the community after you’ve gone.
Nevin, I saw Josephine and Sabrina tonight. They said that they miss you. I also saw Hazel. She’s looking forward to hanging out with you.
Love You!

I’ve enjoyed reading everyone’s posts about this incredible experience. You should all be proud of the hard work you’ve put in for this community and what you’ve accomplished. Becca, we miss you (yes, your sister misses you, too!) and can’t wait to give you big hugs!!
Alison (Lex's Mom)
First of all, great work glimpsers! You guys must be sleeping well after all that work. I have been following along with the posts every day and am amazed with the magnitude of the things you are all doing.
Lex – Juliet and I are so excited to see you, and are trying to keep the emotional mush to a minimum (but no promises once we see you in the airport). While I’m proud of all of you guys for what you’re doing I am also so proud of you specifically for pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. We all love you so much. Enjoy the last few days there, we are so excited to see you soon. Love Mom.

You are really getting a lot done. It’s hard work and truly impressive!
Xiaohan, I hope you are getting plenty of vegetarian options–I know when I am in Panama the options are limited but delicious (mostly rice and beans).
Stay strong, everybody. Your families miss you lots!

Wow! Great progress on the construction. Now you all have some employable skills to put to use when you return (ha ha). Hope there is a way to see the finished product and its use. Sounds like most of you have gained a new appreciation for home and family, also. Wonderful way to spend summer vacation, making real contributions to people’s lives and communities. As well as learning invaluable skills of group work and cooperation.

Great blog entry Becca, Jordan, Lex- vivid descriptions & vivid photos of work and the locale. People look like they’re sweating & working hard- effective team work! Did y’all find a place to “sign” the cement? Who are the local folks working alongside GG? Hope y’all met your progress goal– is there one more day of work? Can’t wait to hear all the details. The CAP seems very worthwhile- and your contributions are so essential. Bravo everyone! So proud of you!

Very proud of the grueling work you are doing. A community center will be very valuable to the people. Hope there is enough vegetarian choices for such hard work.
