Today our adventure officially began!
After arriving safely in Costa Rica, the group was welcomed at the airport by Nino and Emilia, the PCs. Once everyone was together, we collected the students’ phones so they can fully immerse themselves in this experience.
Our first stop was lunch, where everyone enjoyed a traditional Costa Rican casado with rice, beans, chicken or fish, salad, sweet plantains, and picadillo de chayote.
After lunch, we headed to Turrialba, making one quick stop along the way for a bathroom break and to pick up some snacks. Once we arrived at our home base, the students settled into their rooms before enjoying a delicious dinner of pasta, salad, garlic bread, and fresh blackberry juice.
We ended the day with our first Nightly Meeting, followed by some free time to play board games, read, write, relax, and get ready for a great night’s sleep.
It was a wonderful first day, and we’re excited for all the adventures that await us tomorrow!
