Day 5 – Immigration day

Hey families, this is Yasleen and Ariana as the first LDD’s for the trip! We started the day off by meeting a local mask marker “Gato”. He was teaching and showing us how to make carnival masks that celebrated gods.
After, we made a trip to a local market where we all enjoyed picking up snacks and later sharing with each other while watching a Immigration Documentary. We also met Paul Rosado (Paul Pink), who is a local self taught dance instructor. He taught us how to dance Bachata and Merengue. We ended the day with playing games and hanging out with each other, passing the torch to the next LDDs! Till next time, adios!

Hi everyone! I’m so happy to hear you’re getting creative in many ways through art and dance! Congratulations to the first LDLs of the trip. I hope you all learned a lot from the documentary, it’s great to see you guys are being educated on the culture and history of your area.

Looks like a fun day! Can’t wait to see those dance moves! Zohra, I saw Marley and Tallulah at dinner. We took a pic together and they told me to tell you HI and they miss you already! So do I!
