Student Trip Blog
Hi! Our names are Aareon and Kevin – we were Leaders del Dia (LDD’s) today.
Culture Day – we spent the day learning about Dominican Culture and Traditions.
Our day started with a trip to a local artist affectionally called “El Gato” who specializes in 3D art including masks and figures. He is both locally, nationally, and globally famous for his Dominican influenced sculptures.
Everyone got to work with clay to make a sculpture either of an Ancient Dominican God or an invented god.
El Baile!!!!
Our afternoon cultural adventure was in traditional Dominican dancas, including Bachata, Merengue, Salsa, and Zumba.
Everyone tried their best and we had a great time!
Surprise! – Festival
We just finished dancing, when we were surprised by our Program Coordinators: Emilia and Pamela with a trip to the Constanza Harvest Festival where we saw a dance show where women and men danced to only 4 musical instruments. We also got fresh juice from stands and fresh fruit. And we met some military personal who were very nice and allowed to get group and individual photos with them.
The festival was very fun and really interesting to see. The festival was LIT NO CAP!! We really out here learning about culture everyday but today was hundred percent fuego! Excited to see what to come next!

Hello Aareon and Kevin! Thank you for the update! You learned all those dances including Bachata, Merengue, Salsa, and Zumba? That was exceptional.
