Student Trip Blog

Culture & Community day

3 30 to 4 30Hi Guys, this is Josie and Ravneet taking over the blog today. There were a lot of new experiences today. We learned new skills including pottery and baking breads; these new skills made us discover the hidden talents in the small town of Chitré. It allowed us to meet people, learn new skills, and learn more about the community in Chitré. We are proud of our peers for stepping out of their comfort zone and exploring new things. We met Orlando and Lucrecio Batista, they showed their passion and talent of baking and pottery. They invested their time meeting and teaching us. Something interesting was the way that for these businesses like the Lucrecio´s pottery business is supported by the government which is quite uncommon to many places. This experience contributed to our growth as leaders by shaping our confidence and believing in ourselves. We learned that communication is the key to growth and leadership. When there is communication between peers it makes the environment more comfortable for everyone to contribute.

Right now, the glimpsers are having a fun time and group bonding. We spent quality time together by shopping in a ¨Panamanian Walmart¨. Also, as a heads up, tomorrow the glimpsers will be allowed to call their families in the afternoon. Look forward to the call.

Hi Everyone,
Pottery and bread making looks like such a fun filled day. And shopping too? Did anyone find any good treasures to bring home?
We had two escapees tonight, first leader was Chris P. Bacon, followed by Pepper! Dolly stayed back and ate everything. Then there was Simba and Sami, both are good escape artists and climbers too.
Cannoli graduated to the third floor, Spumoni stayed behind and was left with a giant stuffy as company- he may be the next Mikey. Speaking of Mikey, I wanted to send him off with a goodbye, but all he did was plant his face in his bowl. Didn’t even look up to say anything, even licked all the bowls clean and then started to chew on food splattered towel! Well he did finally looked up, only when the bowls were spanking clean. Just me and Madison tonight a little chaotic but we got ‘em done – miss you Clover
