¡Hola todos! Today was cultural exchange + cheese farm day. We started our day off bright and early at 6:30 am (some at 5!!) Everyone was rushing to fully finish preparing for their part of the cultural exchange project. For our cultural exchange, we visited the local school in Santa Rosa and interacted with 20 kids, ranging from 1st to 6th grade. We had three groups: mobility, language, and arts n’ crafts. For mobility, we taught the kids how to play a Spanish version of Simon Says and Capture the Flag. In language, we played Hangman, and taught them our own version of the card game Spot It, which has been one of our favorite pastimes throughout the trip. Lastly, the arts n’ crafts team created paper masquerade masks and flags for the kids to individually personalize. There were so many kids we connected with, especially Zoe and Nicole.

We ate arroz con pollo (chicken w/ rice) for lunch, and towards the end of our visit, some of us took part in a volleyball game with the kids. Once the cultural exchange ended, we departed to the cheese farm, Finca La Florita, and learned all about cows, cheese, and the way that some farms are really including the environment in the way they run their business. La señora, Carla, included us in some demonstrations, such as milking a cow and making cheese. We went especially into detail about consumerism and its impacts on the world and our communities.

After the cheese farm, we returned back to Casa Aracari for some free time. Later, we departed to Fratelli, an Italian restaurant, for pizza to celebrate the end of our time together. We made a quick stop to a nearby store for goodies for tonight. On the bus ride back from dinner, we had our final nightly meeting in Turrialba and shared our Rose and Thorn of the day. Once we arrived at the house, we finished off with our Plus and Wish of the day. Everyone wished that we could have a few more days together. To end off our final night at Casa Aracari, we went for a late night swim.

Group T3B signing out! ¡Pura vida!
