community action project (day 2) : breaking records

By Adela, Sienna, and Vince, Leaders of the Day | June 13, 2026

Hello Global Glimpse family and friends,

We woke up bright and early at 4:00 AM to get ready for second day of Community Action Project (CAP). Before making our way to the project site in Tonosi, we had our daily health check-in which went smoothly. Breakfast was handed out on the bus and we got to enjoy roasted sausages, pancakes, and scrambled eggs, all with a cup of mango.

Once we arrived at the site, we were greeted by the Pro Eco Azeuro workers ready to drive us to the plantation. During the drive there, we were fortunate enough to be able to catch a glimpse of native Panamanian Howler Monkeys!!!

As we were dropped off at the plantation, were given our duties and got straight to work. Sandra and Caesar tasked us with a challenging goal of planting 1,200 saplings. Many of us felt the toll of our hard labor, especially during the grueling walks to the different plantations. Though the sun shone down on us much more than yesterday, we were able to persevere through the discomfort and achieved a whopping new record of 1,260 sapplings!!!!!

At 10:30 AM, drove to the nearby restaurant which we had visited the day before. At lunch, we had juicy grilled chicken and fried red snapper fish, along with beans, rice, mashed potatoes, and iced nance slushie. However, had finished our work and lunch much earlier than anticipated, we got the chance to visit a local gift shop in Pedasi during an unexpected downpour, which had been much needed during the swelldering Panamanian heat! The glimpsers were ecstatic to purchase gifts and sourvenirs for themselves, friends and family back home.

After a strenuous day, we arrived back at the accomodation where we enjoyed the rest of our free time, things like shopping at the local market, spending time with fellow glimpsers, taking naps, and washing our dirty clothes until dinner time at 6:00 PM. To end off the night, we had our nightly meeting and passed the torch to the new LDDs for tomorrow’s Biocultural Diversity day / Fun Day!

From Sienna,

To Mommy and Daddy,

I am having a lot of fun in Panamaaaa!!! I miss you all and although I am having the time of my life learning a lot and making new friends, I am so excited to see you guys, Mia, Kaiya, Taya and Nessa (Tadgh, Misty and Callum too obviously). I can’t wait to tell you all about my trip and to hear all about what you guys have been doing! I love you guys and I am thinking of you guys everyday! #emojis #67 #boomshackalacka

Hi Mom and Dad,

I don’t often write notes or letters to you guys, so I’m making this chance in the Global Glimpse program to expose myself to more vulnerability and chances to take to ensure that my love for you does not get away from my heart so easily. I may seem like I don’t care and don’t often think that I love you, but I do. Thinking about when you do all the things for me and I don’t always show my appreciation, I do. It’s hard for me to express my feelings through actions because I was never used to it when I was younger. I wish you could have taught me to express more, but there is still value in how I am now, and I hope you see that in me as well.

Regardless, Panama is fun as hell. The friends I made along the way and the things I got taught me how free life can be when you’re able to experience so much. This is truly a glimpse, and this kind of life style teaches me to take it all in… in a singular blink.

Sincerely,

Vince Nguyen
