Community Action Project – Day 2!

Hi families and friends! Today was our second day of us working super hard on amazing Community Action Project!!! After being in the Dominican Republic for 6 days and nonstop walking, working and being in the heat, we are feeling both fantastic and exhausted and we are very excited to see you on this upcoming up Sunday Night!!!

Today we woke up to a tropical rainstorm which meant we had to rearrange our schedule a bit for today. After starting our morning at 7 am, we met at the dining area and discovered we had a scavenger hunt waiting for us in order to earn our breakfast. While we waited out the rain, we played some games as a group in our conference room. Once the rain stopped, we headed out to the school to continue our hard work!

We made some excellent progress today, which included digging holes for the fence and finished half the fence and started painting the our colorful murals. After 3 hours of hard work, we head back to the rancho to get some delicious lunch, which was pork with potatoes, corn and rice, steamed veggies, and fried plantains. After a delicious lunch we then headed back to work at the school for 3 more hours. We made some serious progress! The fence and murals are more than half way done some of us wanted to keep on grind! After coming back to the rancho, we had an hour and a half of free time which some of us spent at the pool and chatting. Eventually we had dinner which was both chicken and cheese empanadas. We ended out night with the usual nightly meeting, talent show, and more free time!

We were left thinking about how our amazing teamwork allowed us to positively impact students like ourself in a different country. We miss you all very much see you soon!!!

With BIG LOVE, your LLD’s…
