Coffee, Ice Cream, and bachata!!

Hello families!

Writing to you tonight are your leaders of the day, Zaria and Sean! We want to tell you about our day. First, we had breakfast containing fried plantains, mashed potatoes, fried salami, fried cheese, and eggs. Then we traveled up the mountain after changing our US dollars for local currency. While up the mountain, we tried traditional rural coffee and hot chocolate and learned about the process of making them.

We returned to Jarabacoa and had free time to shop for snacks and souvenirs. Afterwards, we all went to get ice cream! After ice cream, we learned how to salsa dance, as well as Merengue and Bachata!

Some of us cooled off in the pool after all that dancing, while the rest of us relaxed. Dinner was spaghetti Bolognese with garlic bread and fresh pineapple juice. Then at our nightly meeting, we discussed our quote and question of the day, and then we passed the torch to tomorrow’s leaders of the day! We think we’d lose weight here with all this walking, but we eat well for every meal! In some ways, it feels like we’ve been here for months already, but it’s only Day 3! We’ve done so much in three days, it’s hard to believe it all fit into such a short time. We would write more about all the amazing bonding happening here and about the new friends and activities, but we are so tired after this long day! We’re so grateful to be here, and we hope you’ve enjoyed our blog post! Write back!

Sincerely, Sean, Zaria, and all the Glimpsers!
