We started this morning by waking everyone up at 7:00 am. We then began our group health check-in, closely followed by a breakfast of toast with chorizo as well as papaya and pineapple rice juice. From there we went drove to Santa Ana Elementary School. Once we got there, we grouped up and immediately started painting 3 of the classrooms in the school. The designs and colors of which we painted the rooms were suggested by the children of the classes who we talked to yesterday.

After painting for a few hours, we took a lunch break at around 12:30 served by Yanet and Ashley. After lunch, we immediately went back to work. At this point, we started sketching our designs on the walls of the classroom and then proceded by filling in the designs.

Over the next few hours, we cleaned up and rearranged the classrooms as we found them. Once we completed the cleanup process, we returned to the bus to head back to our hotel to wash up. After everyone washed up, we got the chance to explore the local plaza in a group of 4 or more for the first time since we’ve been here. Most of the groups collectively decided to go to the boba shop. After the groups returned, we gathered for dinner (also served by Yanet and Ashley!). After everyone ate, we all joined together for our nightly meeting, where the leaders of the day “passed the torch” to the new leaders of the next day. Before we passed the torch, the new leaders had to perform a talent, in which they decided to do a dance.

From there the new leaders took over to share with us the schedule for tommorow. After the nighly meeting we suprised our friend, Adam, with a cake and song, as it is his birthday today!
