Chitre 1D Day 2 July 26th, 2025

Hello from sunny and warm Chitre, Panama! After a long journey from Boston yesterday, we made it to Panama City at 1:30am. We rested for a bit this morning before having breakfast and heading out of the city to the Azuero Peninsula, where Chitre is located. On the way from Panama City, we drove over the Panama Canal and got a “sneak peek” of the tourist attraction that we will visit next week. We stopped along the way for lunch and also conducted the Culture and Safety Seminar and the Lider del Dia Seminar with the students. Upon arrival in Chitre, we went over rules, regulations, and agreements for the trip, gave students the opportunity to get acquainted with each other, and enjoyed our first dinner of Chow Mein with chicken and plantains – and it was a hit! Lastly, we experienced our first, magical nightly meeting led by tomorrow’s student leaders of the day.

Rachel and I have been extremely impressed with the group’s inclusivity of others and their resiliency through our travel. The energy has been tangible, in spite of the long flight delay and lack of sleep. We are feeling very fortunate to have this group of students together in Panama and cannot wait for the days ahead.
