Today was the last day that we spent in Panama. We woke up together – no different than other days that we have spent here, but we all knew it was our last. We had our last breakfast with our two cooks that have been with us most of the week: Yanet and Ashley. Then we said ‘farewell’ and got on the bus to go to the Panama Canal. After a four hour bus ride, we finally arrived at the canal, which was a pretty amazing sight. We watched a huge cargo ship rise and sink in a lock to allow for it to pass through the canal. Once the ship had passed, we watch a IMAX 3D documentary about the importance of the canal. The canal is important not only to the country of Panama, but for the world as well. We learned about its history, how it works, how it was built and how it affected people of the the past and the people of today.

We hit the road for about 30 more minutes before we reached our final hotel. When we got there, we met another group of Glimpsers from Los Angeles. We chatted and shared stories about our trips before we left the hotel to go on a short walk in Panama city. We walked down to the shore and got a group photo in front of the Panama sign. At 5:15 we made it back to the hotel and got ourselves ready for our last dinner together. We were all very happy eating dinner together, and afterwards, we had a closing seminar. This was the last time to say our goodbyes, to talk about our feelings, and to talk to one another at least for a while. We all got emotional but we talked about it, hugged about it, and we all felt different by the end of the night. This was just a glimpse of what the rest of our lives might look like, but we all together made our first experience traveling together. Even though there may have been some sad moments or some angry moments, we had each other and we will always remember that.
